I think it is fair that humans sometimes use animals to understand disease, for instance. I dont think its fair if they are testing whether certain lotions or lipstick irritate skin.
I think animals are not always useful as test subjects because they are not humans, and I wonder how many medicines "work well" just because we want to believe that they do.
The drug insulin was first found from experiments in dogs and without that, millions of diabetic humans would have died.
I don't think it's right to put any thing in danger(Even if the danger's really small.) if they don't give permission. To see what works on humans they should use humans. I think putting humans in danger is more ethical than putting animals in danger. As for testing for cures for animal diseases it's kind of a tricky situation. I suppose if the animal is sick and they're pretty sure the cure will work it's fair. I think a sick thing would give permission to try to be cured. I agree with anonynous person 1 that testing cosmetics on animals is unacceptable.
I say that sometimes it's safe and ethical to use animals for testing. But it's not ok to do things like sending lakia the space dog into orbit without bringing her back down. However, sending a spider monkey to go to Jupiter and back is ok.
The other thing I wonder is who Anonymous 1 & 2 are.
Anonymous two is Maggie. I know what you mean about Lakia. That makes me so sad!! Who are you?
Hello all,
We think its fair to test on animals in some cases like finding out more about diseases. We don't think its fair to test products on them. Rats are another story.....

1. All the "anonymii" are from our class.
2. What about rats? They have been popular as test animals for one hundred years, yet they are excellent pets--ask anyone who has one (or two).

I think it is O.K. to test on animals if the animal is sick and is going to either die or there is a large possibility that it is going to die, but if the animal is spending it's whole time in a cage or in testing I don't think it's O.K. On the subject of testing cosmetics I think that they should use humans instead of animals.

I don't think it is at all ethical to test cosmetics on other animals besides humans. First off, Humans eould know that the cosmetics might not be safe, whereas other animals who do not have the slightest idea what is going on coudn't possibly know that they are putting themselves in danger. and if some scientist wans to see animal behavior in the wild, then He/she shouldn't try to see it in a lab. but there are some tests that might be ethical, like seeing how fast a rat of gerbil can get through a maze, but then do they test to see how fast humans can go through? Idon't know, but probably not. It is also ethical to test other animals to see how fast differnt kinds of animals react to something, including humans in their studies. and to the first comment put on this comment page, even if testing on dogs saved millions of diabetic humans, shouldn't they just test the drug on diabetic humans? I think that's all I can write for now, so bye!
